“The fundamental job of a toddler is to rule the universe.” —Lawerence Kutner
Introduction:
Having a quiet toddler can be a blessing and a curse. On the one hand, the sound of nothing and peace and quiet, bliss. On the other hand, it means that sometimes they get into trouble and you don't even know what they are up to until it's too late! That is certainly how it works at my house. My little ones always seems to find ways to cause mischief, and I'm sure most parents can relate.
On this day, I was trying to fit in some work on my phone. I had decided that my kids needed more creative play, so I broke out the markers and crayons, set them at their little table, letting them color.
I went and sat on the couch, drinking coffee and hammering out some emails and designs for Wildheart7 Tees. The everyday chatter and fighting of what color they had to have rand in my ears. Then silence; I looked over, and they were engrossed in whatever drawing was taking shape.
"Perfect,' I'm winning at this mom thing today. Today will be a good day, as I Sipped my coffee.
I finished up only to realize the silence was too long.
"Girls!', I yelled.
"What?" as they popped up from the corner behind their table.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
They both came running toward me, hands extended, singing..."Spiderman, Spiderman."
Web shooting motion engaged with toddler jumps and laughter.
They had colored their arms red. The line work was incredible. They left little to no visible skin. One of the girls had started coloring on her sister's face to make the look complete.
When questioned about what they were doing, "I'm Spiderman,' was the response. Yep, we make our costumes with red markers that don't wash off.
It took two days for the marker to come off. So if you see a mom out and about with twins colored in marker, mind your business; she might just be me.
